lyrics translaiton. 'Proud of You' by Shiina Hekiru ~ one of the most beautiful songs ever

I do consider this song as one of the best songs I have heard in my life. 90% times I hear it I cannot help crying because of the piercing voice of Hekiru, poignant melody and simple but deep lyrics. I love both the energetic and the slow versions of this song. and the story about the 'angel' is just blowing up my mind
lyrics written down by me and checked here, but since I prefer to divide lyrics according to music phrases, lines can differ

I'm proud
Never forget

I'm proud
Brand new days

I'm proud
Never forget
I'm proud of you
Brand new days
Anyway… Proud of you

Translation

When I gather moon drops in my palm
And pour them onto my heart, they slightly show through
A pale scar, memories of passion
Only dream is the armed warriors

A town where only sadness is falling down –
Even living there is a battle, but
Sleep now, entrust yourself to love
You must shut your violence

I'm proud, in the wind I was looking without breathing
At the summer which was longer than eternity. So, never forget
A story about how, soaked in rainwater, right next to you
There was an angel

Making a simple stone shine
Is the meaning of love, you said
Sleep now, and thank you
Love is awakening now

I'm proud, touching with you in a serious kiss
Is more beautiful than a jewel, so brand new days
You laugh, as if it were a joke
That the angel was me

I'm proud, in the wind I was looking without breathing
At the summer which was longer than eternity. So, never forget
The story about how, soaked in rainwater, right next to you
There was an angel, which still continues. I am proud of you
Touching with you in a serious kiss
Is more beautiful than a jewel, so brand new days
Tearing off the wings, I became a human
Anyway… Proud of you

similar, resembling, reminding...

sometimes I know I want to listen to something similar to what I have already heard. sometimes 'tis possible, sometimes 'tis hard or just impossible. this post is aimed to fix what I consider similar for some reasons
  • Noto Mamiko's 'ichinuke' reminded me of Rurutia. the primary reason lies in the song style, not in Mamiko's vocals
  • Onmyouza - oh forgive me their fans - reminded me of Izumi You just a little. I know Onmyouza is a unique phenomenon and I am not saying they are similar, but Kuroneko's voice seems to be at least of the same type as Izumi's
to be updated...

one of a kind, two of a kind, three...

'tis absolutely OK when two things are similar. 'tis normal that people have something in common. 'tis natural when different bands belong to the same style and thus their songs make the same impression
is it only my problem that I almost cannot distinguish between bands like ONE OK ROCK, Uverworld and now - my new discovery - SPYAIR?

lyrics translation. 'Parade' by Susumu Hirasawa ~ is it translatable at all?

upd 16.03.16:
some mistakes corrected

Of course I know this song because of 'Paprika' - a movie which is one of a kind, unique and oh, RIP Satoshi-sama
Since the lyrics are absolutely impossible to hear throughout most of this song, I was rescued by animelyrics. However, translating was no less difficult. The first problem - phrases used here do not make a line of complete sentences which makes it difficult to read. Secondly, some words have different meanings and 'tis hard to guess what is implied. The favourite moment of mine is the 'kakenedo' word - an old-Japanese beautiful... hurdle. My 'grammar cyclopedia' does not provide any info for '-nedo' ending and my knowledge is too shallow. I used an article explaining a phrase つゆ忘るるにはあらねど here - thanks to the fact that on Weblio one can read every word and its ending explained in terms of grammar, I was able to draw an analogy with the word in the lyrics.
Therefore! my translation this time is only an attempt, only a guess. Still, I hope 'tis useful

Translation

Energy in the heart, chemical foam,
I walk through a street of hired cars, old tyres, blood and meet
This is liberty, a parody on utopia
Gorgeous rows of trees [on the avenue of] buyers and Giga Movies, it’s a sunny day

Minor depressions are pranks, rose colour is low priced,
Therefore, rejoice – to the extent you can hardly bear

Dying literacy – we kill it mechanically
A street of traders, hanging wires and formaldehyde
Drying synergy – we moisten it with synthetic sweetness
In the mega-temple of skyscrapers a frenzy rain of funds falls

I cannot write the word ‘ignorance’, but the future is low-priced
Laugh that this is in general a superstition. A story of karma

See, giving an off-smell, eating your shadow
A parade of fear is coming, under your name

An MC of roar – it’s a lethal dose for a civilian
A street of the disabled, diamonds for sell and reason fallen into blood
This is liberty, a parody on utopia
What I ask for is SSRI. And now, hi-ho on the terrace of vogue

Minor theories are nonsense, pleasure is low-priced
On no account you should reflect, for it is too late

See, giving an off-smell, eating your shadow
A parade of fear is coming, under your name
See, it can cover everything around, your shadow produces it –
The parade of insanity is coming, under your name

translator's notes
  1. while searching for some words, I stumbled upon a blog where a person stated he (she?) thinks that exactly in the peaceful world one's heart can be in pain. probably this means that living in a modern welfare state can be not as great as it seems. this is only a personal opinion, but I cannot disagree that the lyrics imply something like that
  2. some of the comparisons are really vivid, such as 'skyscraper' and 'temple'. others are not. I believe that 'rose colour' in the first verse means a bright future - or at least the ability to see it as such, as the following two verses have 'future' and 'pleasure' in similar contexts
  3. I might be wrong but the line 'I cannot write the word 'ignorance'' may have two meanings here. not only 'ignorance' itself is important, but maybe also the fact that in Japanese the kanji for 'ignorance' - 蒙昧 - are difficult and not all people know them. well this is my speculation not yet proven by anything except the fact that my kanji dictionary tells me both kanji are rarely used
  4. SSRI is an antidepressant. speaks for itself
  5. not only 'kakenedo' sounds obsolete, but also the phrase 'on no account you should reflect for it is too late' is written unlike how they say it in oral everyday speech. I love it
  6. and I also love it how every second phrase in each verse has a lot of 'ya' sounds, as they give a special feeling to the lyrics
  7. and I also love that a lot of loan words are used. this is not a coincidence
  8. 'Giga movies' must mean the adult videos produced by a company called Giga, if I am not mistaken. At least this is what a simple Google search told me. Search for any details at your own risk, it is 18+ in Japan and seems to be 21+ in other countries.

Takarazuka monthly calendars. Dec. 2012 - Jan. 2013

I have become too lazy and uninterested to post anything Zuka-related, have I not? seeing calendars posting as nothing beyond my 'duty' which in reality does not even exist, huh?
finally I became determined to try and find something in the current Takarazuka to cling to

'yumekui Merry' ~ ever after?

...but finally, the hero believes in himself
and the heroine also believes in herself
and they crush the enemy and live happily ever after!
oops. I spoiled everything, did not I? the ending was such a HUGE mystery for all of us who watched!
funny as it is, 'Yumekui' fails to show what the spectators were probably waiting for, but showed just an average heroic ending with the average 'ever after'. what? several characters lost their dreams and hearts? oh, they can start all over again. what? several Nightmares died? oh nobody grieves over them. this is a 'happy ending' I tell you

plot and characters
I guess everybody understands this was a sarcasm. the worst thing about 'Yumekui' is that 'twas promising in the beginning being rich in
#1 humour
#2
nice character design. 'tis probably thanx to the manga, but characters are memorable and unique
and they begin to develop in front of our eyes and demonstrate some personality, something special about them. there were even touching moments involving not only the main characters but also supporting ones. there were the feeling of a loss of an important person, the feeling of loneliness, the feeling of happiness of being able to help someone, the feeling of happiness of making friends... and self-sacrifice
#3 scenes design
while watching 'Yumekui' I recalled 2 animes I have watched. the first is 'Bakemonogatari', as 'Yumekui' also tends to tell the story in a strange 'torn' manner. the second is 'King of Bandit Jing', as the 'daydreams' in 'Yumekui' had a very strange design. though 'Yumekui' loses to both, and especially to KoBJ which I consider an unrivaled masterpiece, in general, the world of 'nightmares' in 'Yumekui' looked really interesting
however, 'Yumekui' is simply incomplete. no wonder, since the manga is not finished. however, there are examples of anime series that cope with this problem. 'Yumekui' did not

graphics
all the pictures of moving objects are nice and stylish, and the backgrounds are also pretty good

seiyuus
though I knew almost nobody among the cast, I felt as if had heard them somewhere. in other words, all of them sounded very typical. this does not apply to Okamoto, of course

music
another point of 'Yumekui' which adds to its 'strangeness'. the melodies were sometimes acoustic, sometimes electro, but always as if a bit 'odd'. maybe this can be considered a special atmosphere of 'Yumekui'
OPEDs are, unfortunately, not inspiring, though the opening by Fujiwara Marina is nice

conclusion
throughout 'Yumekui' my opinion was a constant ups-and-downs. I liked it here, but disliked it there, then again I was touched by something and again disappointed by something else. plot holes, incompleteness, illogical developments, boring scenes are tiresome. the good points which I considered 'promising' cannot compensate for that. however, this is not all. there are cases when an anime is only like a long advertisement of the original artwork, be it manga or ranobe or game - but still anime itself is great. such are 'Letter Bee' for example, and even my favourite 'Dantalian'. 'Yumekui' did not even grow to the level of being able to stir my interest toward the original manga. what a pity

how to buy a ticket to Takarazuka ~ a crush of dreams?

the new year marked a new stage in Zuka tickets. finally Zuka understood it should not be weaker than any other service in terms of selling their tickets. the web-ticket system was upgraded noticeably! what are the major innovations?

innovation #1
as you can see, the days of the week are written in Russian! yeah, there in the brackets. does Takarazuka aim to become more foreigner-friendly step by step???

innovation #2
the answer is NO. why? now it requires a login. is login that bad?
login itself is not. registration is. the problem is not that the process became a bit more complicated - Google translator or someone who knows can help you with the Japanese language. what really seems to be a big hinder is that you will need to write your ADDRESS in Japan. including index, prefecture, city, building, etc. and your phone number, as usual. previously you only had to write your phone number. here, as always, you have an alternative. you can either ask your Japanese friend (what? you love Takarazuka and you do not even possess a bunch of kind Japanese friends???) to lend you his/her address and phone number - I did this with phone number only last time. OR - you can deceive the system. yeah, just find a random address and put it in. what are the consequences? I have NO idea. however, at least I knew that phone number was only necessary when you go to pick up your ticket as one of the numbers of confirmation. address - what is it used for? this requires a long and boring process of reading the rules. remember 'tis Japan we are speaking about. if you ask directly - you will be told to use an address of a person you know. no one is even suspecting you would use an address you picked up in Google maps. what if you say nothing? haha, you can try if you dare. I dare not. guess I will have a few fun hours trying to understand why address is so important. if it comes to the pinch, I guess I have people whom I can ask to use their address, but one can never be sure, huh?

'Yumeiro Patissiere' ~ so long, my love...

'so long, my love' is from Sakura Wars. no, it has nothing to do with 'Yumeiro', it just came to my mind. 'so long' refers to the length of the anime - 50 episodes first and then 13 episodes in the season 2, plus OVA. 'my love' refers to me 'searching for some romance'. however, 'Yumeiro' is just full of problems

plot and characters
problem #1
'Yumeiro' is just an typical shoujo. yes, 'tis. we have a typical shoujo main heroine whose sole virtue consists in the ability of 'making other people smile'. she is clumsy
but motivated
and though she changes her mind pretty quickly
she is overcoming everything with her positive attitude. overcoming everything, including all other qualities and features of other people - not only arrogance or wile tricks, but even knowledge, hard work and several years practice. the spectator is only left to wonder how she caught up with the rest of her class, caught with three top students among the class, caught up with strong groups among the middle school division, then caught up with strong groups from the high school, and finally surpassed even the most praised students in the world
in general there is nothing to disagree with in the belief that hard work can work miracles. moreover, this idea is one of my favourite themes in art. however, there is a limit to what a person can do in an amount of time. 'tis ok when a young passionate hero(ine) wins over an older wiser character, but 'tis not ok when the main heroine wins time after time. this is already beyond the level of credibility
this 'not-giving-up-in-any-situation' is also expressed with the example of Mari. her story may be understood as an accomplishment of her dream and finding a new 'raison d'etre', but the inevitable truth is that she was forced to give up her ideals and sacrifice her original dream. however wrong she might have been, if this kind of 'not-giving-up' is considered to be

problem #2
the plot development was so simple and predictable I could not help trolling it all the time while chatting with my friend. of course, new recipes are created when needed, and of course necessary ingredients are always at hand, and of course Ichigo can use Koshiro's helicopter to fly from France to Japan in order to look at her granny's strawberry, and of course the Sweets Spirits can create whatever clothes, furniture or exterior needed with their magic
one must already have understood that I dislike this kind of main heroines and this kind of stories. however, 'Yumeiro' does not consist only of that. and this is what makes me worried. I do not have the basis of this anime -  the kindness and ability to understand and appreciate other people's feelings impersonated by the main heroine. I cannot hate her behavour at times when someone needs support and moral relief
another point saving 'Yumeiro' is the unexpected exercise of funny moments. sometimes I chuckled, sometimes I almost laughed out loud -  like it was in case of Hanabusa with his roses
and this truly causes a cognitive dissonance in me. the story and main heroine design are in a huge conflict with the other aspects I mentioned

problem #3
the second aspect I was waiting for is a bit disappointing. after a lot of hints and touching moments between the main couple we suddenly see a scene in the last episode - which is, by the way, a scene happening already 2 years after the previous events. in other words, all the important things appear to be skipped. season 2 had bolder hints on the relationships but never really reached the awaited point. well, I do think that such hints only are not enough. 'tis not that I wanted to watch 63 episodes to get just another hint in the last minutes of the last episodes

problem #6
one of the reasons for me to watch 'Yumeiro' is that I thought I might find an anime suitable for my 12-year old cute little student. and this is where I got discouraged. 'Yumeiro' is only suitable for very, very young girls. even though the characters are around 13-14 years old (and then get older), I find the story too childish for children of the same age. it might be ok for those less critical and selective in regard to what they watch. every little thing is so thoroughly explained that I even got bored. on one hand, I am not claiming to know everything and the info was new and helpful to me, too. on the other hand... well this is tiresome

problem #6
in the beginning I said that 'Yumeiro' is a typical shoujo. however, one unusual point can be found. and 'tis the constant atmosphere of competition which is worrying me. in general the idea is ok, but repeating it again and again is doubtful. the points about 'rivals', 'leaders' and the stuff really looked strange to me. as if it were not a Japanese anime, but an American video-tutorial 'how to start your career as a patissiere'

graphics
problem #4
the outline itself and the colours were ok, but whose idea it was, I wonder, to erase fringes and bangs or spectacles sides where they intersect with eyes???
though, much effort was put into the backgrounds

seiyuus
this is, finally, the aspect I have no reprimands for. all the seiyuus were good and fitting their respective characters. I was especially pleased to hear Okamoto in a role which I find more suitable for him than an 'average Japanese schoolboy', and whom I would especially mark out is Caramel's seiyuu Iino Mayu, who turned out to be a small girl, which makes her a promising seiyuu for me, because she certainly created her own style of voicing with her own intonations and pronunciation. it was pleasant to hear a lot of seiyuus I had already heard before, but...

problem #5
'Yumeiro' presents, of course, nothing really outstanding

music
problem #6
boring, boring and boring. boring 'cute' opening, boring 'cute' ending... backgrounds are OK for a cute shoujo, but of course I am not even going to download them
season 2 was obviously made look 'older'. therefore, OPED themes are more edible, done in a techno-pop manner. not that I like those songs, to be honest, but at least they are more interesting...
only I cannot understand Gojou Mayumi-san. she was really good in 'Justice of Light' but her songs in 'Yumeiro' are so-so...

conclusion
the more I watched, the more I got bored and tired. the more I got bored and tired - the more I skipped. yes, I literally skipped some scenes and even some episodes. some things pissed me off - such as Henri-sensei's treatment of Mari, some things tired me - such as indecisiveness of the main couple. 'tis especially disgusting after I looked through the original manga and found there are only 38 chapters and more than half of the anime is made of thin air. after finishing 'Yumeiro' I have only 1 thing to say - 'few... finally'

p. s.
if someone near me utters 'gambaru ze!' or 'let us do our best!' in the nearest future - I swear I shall kill that person

lyrics translation. 'Boku o wasurenaide' by Onitsuka Chihiro

well I must confess I do not understand all the lines here. probably I need to do some research. however, I love the last paragraph...

Translation

At your dance floor
Singing like a bird
This is a thing that I can do for you
Please do not forget this
Somehow, do not forget me

In the discoloured diary
Making a sign
This is surely a thing that I can do for you
Please do not forget this
Somehow, do not forget me

On the bottom of the dried sea
Showing precious jewels
This is a thing that I will do for you sometime
Please do not forget this
Somehow, do not forget me

If that lonely feeling
Is still in your heart
Let me eat it for you
Please do not forget this
Somehow, do not forget me
If it is still in your heart
Somehow, do not forget me
Somehow, do not forget me

impressions of using Chrome

strange 'tis but I have never used Chrome properly. having no interest in it after Firefox suddenly improved it efficiency I spent all my time with Red Panda <3
today I, just suddenly, decided to give Chrome a try. so what?
good points first
  • did not even need download statusbar because the downloads are made that way default
  • fast. really fast. even GIF images change their frames faster. well sometimes I even doubt that is a good point...?
  • pretty convenient for me as Google user due to different kinds of synching
bad points
  • not cute. themes exist but lack diversity which I found really attracting in Firefox
  • my head constantly turned to the left. since I have a 1920x1200 screen everything tends to slide to the left. greatly inconvenient and meaningless. well Firefox was, too, until I moved the tabs to the left side instead of default top, but even the inconvenient Firefox design was more pleasant
  • no panels and toolbars in the top? you are kiddin'. I do need search toolbar and I do need to move buttons lower from where they are - the same line where the address bar is
  • instead of the Download panel in the bottom which I installed as an extension for Firefox, Chrome has a similar thing as a default. very convenient. however, it only shows how much is downloaded in MB and how much time is left. I really need it to show the speed, too. and I would be happy if it showed not MB size, but percentage
  • technically speaking, Chrome was created out of the Google toolbar, was it not? I still use it in Firefox, as I said above. first of all, I need different types of search, such as search for pictures, search within the current website, picasa, gmail, etc. I also cannot live without the Translator. the current version in Chrome only enables to translate the whole page, while the Firefox Toolbar is able to create someting close to 'popup' translation of the word that the cursor is pointing at, or a phrase which is currently highlighted
  • as far as I know, Firefox only loads a tab when 'tis viewed. I guess 'tis due to this fact that Firefox is so economical? it only taked ~300 MB of RAM, while Chrome opens a dozen of processes which in total take up to 1 GB. hey?
conclusion
lack of opportunities for customisation. yes.

lyrics translation. 'infection' by Onitsuka Chihiro

to be honest, I do not understand the meaning of the PV. not that I want to, though. for me, listening is enough. it took me some time to fully appreciate this song, but now I love it
to check the lyrics I wrote down I used http://j-lyric.net/artist/a000679/l001253.html - but as usual, my spelling and lines may be organised a bit differently from the lyrics in the web

In the night I sit down as if I'm dead

In the night I realize this infection

Translation

‘I have to give a good answer somehow…’, but on my tongue
Weeds are multiplying
A shadow that crosses my heartbeat
Tears off one more mask from someone

In the night I sit down as if I'm dead

My heart exploded and its pieces are scattered around
They are shining brightly here and there, but
I wonder when I became so weak

That my feet are cramped
I always pretend not to notice
Though my foolish disease
Is only gradually getting worse

In the night I realize this infection

My heart exploded and its pieces are scattered around
They are shining brightly here and there, but
I wonder when I became so weak

I begin to fear various little fevers
I have no chances to win, but I have to wake up

My heart exploded and its pieces are scattered around
They are shining brightly here and there, but
When did I become so weak?
My heart exploded and its pieces are…
Its pieces are… its pieces are… here and there
I wonder when I became so weak
