My curious April. Last day

13.42, sushi Misakimaru at Narita airport terminal 2
We were so impressed by sushi at a restaurant in Kamakura that we decided to have some more before we leave. Oh my, why cannot one eat sushi enough for several months ahead?

My curious April. Day 9

19.50, bar Robroy
Them people who said wisteria is already blooming in Kameido tenjin - burn in hell! We went through all the trouble of getting there from Ginza only to see a single tree blooming and the rest of the shrine covered in thick green...
And still, today's 'Baddy Baddy' we have seen in Takarazuka is playing in my head. I would love to dance if I weren't so tired from walking to and from Kameido

My curious April. Day 8, part 2

20.40, Sky circus observation deck
Probably they think an ordinary observation deck would not surprise anyone more and would not attract many customers when there is highly acclaimed Sky tree and historic Tokyo Tower. Well, at least I personally am mesmerised...

My curious April. Day 8, part 1

14.18, Hitsujiyama park
It's a pity not all of the flowerbeds are in full bloom, but at least I know now that there are 'autumn roses' and 'Daniel's cushions'

My curious April. Day 7, part 2

21.33, Odaiba big top
The announcement on the entrance says if you apply at the ticket office after the performance you can get a 1500 yen discount for a ticket to another date. I can totally understand those who want to visit second time. The stage, the actors, the performers, the music - moreover it's live, everything is too great. I couldn't believe we got there when sitting just in front of the arena, and I cannot believe it even now when it's already ended.

My curious April. Day 7, part 1

16.23, Odaiba Takoyaki museum
I think I've said 'I want to live here' too many times during this trip, but Odaiba make me say it again.
And takoyaki here are in such abundance... 😋

My curious April. Day 6, part 5

19.40, Tully's coffee
We were in the mood for crepes, but here in Enoshima all businesses seem to die out at 7 pm. We headed to Tully's and I think we don't lose much.

My curious April. Day 6, part 4

18.20, Enoshima candle
Google has created me a photo of the view on Enoshima island as how it looks on a sunny day. I'm half disappointed that we couldn't admire the bright view or have a look at Mt Fuji, and half happy that we saw nature as wild as it can be.

My curious April. Day 6, part 3

15.10, Komachi Street
It's strange but I have never visited a sushi restaurant before, though I have travelled to Japan 10 times. This will be my first one, and a good one too.

My curious April. Day 6, part 2

14.07, Tsurugaoka hachimangu shrine
Even though I liked the shrine itself and even got to see a traditional wedding, the place I felt really blissful at was the small Japanese garden, full of peonies this time of year

My curious April. Day 6, part 1

13.16, Tsurugaoka hachimangu shrine
I was not very much eager to visit Kamakura, but we were lucky to hear traditional ritual music inside the shrine. Now I think I understand how the feeling of reverance is born.

My curious April. Day 5, part 4

18.56, Chateau Mercian Tokyo guest bar
This place is too good to be true... I never knew Japanese wine could be so good...

My curious April. Day 5, part 3

17.33, Hie shrine
Zerotopia - that's what I'd recommend to anyone interested in musicals. I was asked by a reporter at Narita Airport what we came to see in Japan, and I said a big part of the entertainment was Japanese musicals. I was not wrong... Great songs, perfect dancing and singing, astonishing stage equipment, superb talent of all the performers... I won't forget it for a long time.
Some wisteria already in bloom here at Hie jinja. I like the gold decorations of the honden, but what we came to see is the red gate stairs.

My curious April. Day 5, part 2

13.03, Atrium Akasaka Aoyama flower market tea house
Aoyama flower market - I have been longing to visit it once, and here it is just near the Akasaka ACT theatre we're visiting.

My curious April. Day 5, part 1

11.51, Tokyo National art centre  Looking at Monet's 'Monet's garden in Giverny' I recall for some reason the scene when Gerda enters an old woman's garden with colourful flowers, and this childhood memory makes me feel warm. By the way, Monet's paintings are not too be looked at closely. They need to be admired from a distance.

22 April 2018

My curious April. Day 4, part 3

19.27, Yokohama ramen museum
This is a magical place. I wouldn't think I could travel in time so easily. 'Miracle romance' from Sailor Moon after Lupin's theme, then Miyuki Nakajima's 'sora to kimi no aida'... I wonder what is happening in the 'school for adults' behind the closed doors... But we'll never know.

My curious April. Day 4, part 2

17.21, Minato no mieru oka park
Still, I would prefer to live in Yokohama than in Kichijoji, I think. Green trees and bushes, all buildings painted in white or blue, some slopes, lots of parks, shopping malls, entertainment, sharp development during 19th century - and the sea embracing it all.

My curious April. Day 4, part 1

13.35, Yokohama Landmark Tower Sky Garden
This has become my guilty pleasure... Sparkling wine and nice view down on the city.

21 April 2018

My curious April. Day 3, part 2

17.10, Inokashira park
This place is idyllic. Now I think I understand why so many people pinned Kichijoji as number 1 place they want to live in. I think I want to live here too. We have a plan already. Making art-house souvenirs and selling it on the local flea market. Art-house - we don't know how to say 'good-for-nothing' in a different mild way =)

My curious April. Day 3, part 1

15.18, Isentei
After visiting Ghibli museum I feel like I have travelled to another world. I think I need to rewatch 'Iblard jikan' again.

20 April 2018

My curious April. Day 2, part 4

19.20, Chosen'an
Yesterday my walking amounted to thirteen thousand three hundred steps. Today it is fourteen thousand and four hundred.
The 'Kiss' are looking down at me from the wall in this traditional soba restaurant.

My curious April. Day 2, part 3

16.16, Kasai rinkai Park
We didn't see much of birds in the birds sanctuary, but we did have a relaxing time

My curious April. Day 2, part 2

14.40, Kasai rinkai Park
After travelling many time in fast pace, trying to visit as many places as possible, this time we travel slowly. Came for a couple of hours in the Tokyo sea life park and the ferris wheel - stayed for the whole day.

My curious April. Day 2, part 1

11.55, Tokyo sea life park
I won't say this is the best aquarium I have been to, but the kelp forest slowly drifting with the flow and dancing fish with quiet music playing somewhere in the background - this is too great.

19 April 2018

My curious April. Day 1, part 2

20.35, Ginza Bunmeido gochome
I think I found my new favourite place. Shopping at Uniqlo or Ginza core, walking the night Ginza with some inspiring music in your earphones, and then having something good at Bunmeido.

My curious April. Day 1, part 1

17.25, hotel Lumiere Nishikasai
The hotel is full of contradictions. The hall looks great, though the room doesn't...
