impressions of using Chrome

strange 'tis but I have never used Chrome properly. having no interest in it after Firefox suddenly improved it efficiency I spent all my time with Red Panda <3
today I, just suddenly, decided to give Chrome a try. so what?
good points first
  • did not even need download statusbar because the downloads are made that way default
  • fast. really fast. even GIF images change their frames faster. well sometimes I even doubt that is a good point...?
  • pretty convenient for me as Google user due to different kinds of synching
bad points
  • not cute. themes exist but lack diversity which I found really attracting in Firefox
  • my head constantly turned to the left. since I have a 1920x1200 screen everything tends to slide to the left. greatly inconvenient and meaningless. well Firefox was, too, until I moved the tabs to the left side instead of default top, but even the inconvenient Firefox design was more pleasant
  • no panels and toolbars in the top? you are kiddin'. I do need search toolbar and I do need to move buttons lower from where they are - the same line where the address bar is
  • instead of the Download panel in the bottom which I installed as an extension for Firefox, Chrome has a similar thing as a default. very convenient. however, it only shows how much is downloaded in MB and how much time is left. I really need it to show the speed, too. and I would be happy if it showed not MB size, but percentage
  • technically speaking, Chrome was created out of the Google toolbar, was it not? I still use it in Firefox, as I said above. first of all, I need different types of search, such as search for pictures, search within the current website, picasa, gmail, etc. I also cannot live without the Translator. the current version in Chrome only enables to translate the whole page, while the Firefox Toolbar is able to create someting close to 'popup' translation of the word that the cursor is pointing at, or a phrase which is currently highlighted
  • as far as I know, Firefox only loads a tab when 'tis viewed. I guess 'tis due to this fact that Firefox is so economical? it only taked ~300 MB of RAM, while Chrome opens a dozen of processes which in total take up to 1 GB. hey?
conclusion
lack of opportunities for customisation. yes.

what I want from Google

if I could develop my ideas into something more tangible, I would certainly sell them to Google and become a billionaire. since I cannot do that, I want to list them, at least

  • blogger application for android
what? there is one? I know but that one looks like just a raw incomplete beta version. we can write an entry, make the text bold or italic, attach an image and post it. or save it. is it all we need to do? how about the other features? what if I want to share a link? align the text? make it like this or like this or
insert a quotation
or insert a  video?
even replying a comment is not possible with 'reply', I have to post a separate comment, you know
this is not satisfactory. yes
  • changing your G+ profile with android phone
that was a huge disappointment. I could neither change my avatar, nor write something in my status with Google+ app. nor I could do that with browser - because it opens the mobile version and does not let me open the usual one. and what if I only have my phone with me??? in a trip or something? smartphones are developing, they are reported to become the most useful and the most used devices - but what is the meaning if they do not provide the same functionality? I am bound to my stationary computer again... >___<

I ADORE GOOGLE

some years ago we were discussing with that Google should exceed simple text search and upgrade so that it could search for any kind of media among any kind of media. this happened upon hearing the news that Google is going to enable searching for a particular phrase which is present in a video on youtube, be it a part of some speech or a line from a song's lyrics
'twas approximately the same period when I was an active forums and web-sites explorer in search for animes to watch and music to listen. as it always happeneth, while looking for something particular, one can find a lot of irrelevant but interesting stuff. thus, two or three years ago I found several pictures which successfully arosed my curiosity and left me with nothing, as I had no clue what fandom they were related to. I tried asking friends and looking through the websites of their origin, but having found nothing that could lead me to the way how to obtain something close or similar, I gave up the idea, calming myself with the thought that my brilliant intuition would someday lead me to encountering those fandoms again, if only there were something worthy of being found by me in them
so I paid no heed to the .jpg files on my desktop for a long period of time until the present day
it happened quite accidentally, though it hath great consequences
I was searching for pictures of a certain animal named 'momonga' and I had to copy the name of the image I already received from my friend to the searchbox. instead of pressing the usual ctrl+c, ctrl+v, I tried to drag the text into the window. to the great surprise of mine I saw the searchbox change its shape and invite me friendly to insert a picture there, not text. my eyes wide open, I tried to do as it said, and I received an unexpected result. the result was me realizing that Google hath already enabled the search by images, not only text. when and how it happened is left for me to guess, and the strongest irritation of mine is that me, who loveth Google deeply and who hath written a report on this company just three month ago, never heard of this function to be introduced. that is a pity >_____<
apart from that disappointment of myself with myself, I have nothing to complain of. and I am sincerely happy that the function I have longed for since the very first time I failed to know about the image I was interested in, is finally at work
hey, Google may have a lot of shortcomings, but it fascinateth us as well, eh?
