I decided to listen to these songs because we watched 'Arrietty' on our Japanese language class, and though I knew the OST would be brilliant, I was not expecting the lyrics to be so touching and so very close to me. some words and lines sound as if they were written specially for me. a certain line is even placed in my current status
I should thank those who scanned the books provided with the disc, as I was not be able to understand some words myself and I have to check them in the scanned pages with lyrics. however, I completely forgot where and when I downloaded it, so I send my great thanks to the air, hope that it would reach those kind people somehow
this time I do not have to translate the lyrics myself, because the original lyrics are in English and the Japanese translation is already provided in the book
unfortunately, there is no 'ready to watch' video on youtube, so I would not insert the song this time, hope you would download it somewhere else
Departure at Dawn
‘cause it’s you, you and me forever,
Our love will never die
Don’t you cry, please stay for a while,
Before you go away
You changed my world, I feel stronger,
I can see the rising sun,
Forever in my heart you’ll stay
Sail the river back to me
‘cause the river knows the way
O my love, life is a journey,
Got your life in front of you
Sail the river back to me
‘cause the river knows the way
O my love, life is a journey,
Got your life in front of you
Say goodbye, please take my hand,
I guess it’s time to leave
Wish you knew, wish you knew that our love
Was written in the stars
I’ll hide my tears behind a smile,
Don’t want you to see me cry,
Forever in my heart you’ll stay
Sail the river back to me
‘cause the river knows the way
O my love, life is a journey,
Got your life in front of you
Sail the river back to me
‘cause the river knows the way
O my love, life is a journey,
Got your life in front of you
Sail the river back to me
‘cause the river knows the way
O my love, life is a journey,
Got your life in front of you

please pay attention to the fact that the first and the second verse use different pronouns - 'boku' and 'kimi' versus 'watashi' and 'anata'. this probably emphasizes the styles of speaking of Sho and Arrietty. 'tis easily proved by the difference in the text - 'before you go away' in the first part is the line of Sho, and 'I guess it’s time to leave' is obviously Arrietty's line
