my humble opinion on 'Sola' ~ no humour - no cookies

Okamoto voicing another AJS... Okamoto voicing another AJS...

plot and characters
Okamoto voicing an 'average Japanese schoolboy' is intolerable until something compensates for that. thrilling story? zero. likeable characters? zero. what does 'Sola' look like is just a row of cliche
a weak attempt to insert at least some personality into the AJS
a girl who makes me think that if one makes one more copy of Ayanami Rei than at least he must try to make her different
trying-to-look-serious and capricious loli
etc., etc.
even though I like slow-paced slice-of-life stories, even though I am in favour of superficial elements, even though I have enough free time to watch, I do no want any more. I even tried to look through the rest of the episodes hoping to see some spoiler that would make me want to watch further. in vain

seiyuus
like I said, Okamoto voicing AJS is intolerable. the others were almost as wonderful - plain emotionless voices. even though I know some of the seiyuus I will never remember their work in 'Sola'

music
you know, animes with Ceui and Yuuki Aira performing theme songs are a very certain type. however, while 'Munto' was pretty good, 'Sola' seems worse
BGM? boring

graphics
I was really pissed off with this wry lines
close ups were better but still not satisfactory. well, at least there are beautiful pictures of nature and landscape and the views of the town and different places and, of course, the sky
does it save 'Sola'? nope. pictures are beautiful, but they do not create atmosphere. and you know what? if I ever want simply to look at something beautiful I always have 'Iblard jikan'

conclusion
dull, boring, making me feel sleepy - this is the anime considered to be the best in 2007 according to some polls in Japan
totally dropped after 4 episodes

p. s.
I almost never drop anything I have started
