I mean, she doesn't actually do anything at all. It's technically singing, yes, but this singing sounds to me like something that of a vocaloid - just a voice hitting the necessary notes... Unfortunately, I don't have the same strong voice, but I guess it would also be possible to get along without it. I wonder when, if ever, will the Japanese composers get tired of writing the same song with the same generic melody again and again...

My May. Day 8, part 1
15.06, Shuri castle
When planning to visit a castle, don't forget it's located on an elevation!
Prepare your most comfortable shoes, a litre of water, your back and your feet! And your eyes too, because Shuri castle is just one red eye-candy.
Served with some local dance performance 3 times a day, too.

My May. Day 7, part 3
19.06, Naminoue beach
They say Surgut is a rich city. Oil and gas industry provide hard-working citizens with a stable income. Of course, one could allow to spend one or two holidays a year at a tropical resort. I don't see however how one is supposed to survive the rest of the year without the sea. I'd probably dry out without something like this - and on a regular basis.

My May. Day 7, part 1
9.52, Tissage hotel, Naha
It's the 5th day I'm having my breakfast in the hotel. I would never do such thing in any big city in Japan, paying 15 dollars or more for a breakfast when a combini nearby allow much cheaper options?
But here, I would be damned if I didn't try these - Okinawan champloo, local fish, guava juice, fruit cocktail with mango, litchee, pineapple and acerola, Okinawan tofu and mozuku seaweeds, drinking guava juice - the one that Orange Range were singing about. Finally I can understand that 'amai amaaai guava juice' line :)
Well, judging by the fact that I cannot tan properly and instead get sunburned easily, it seems that my predecessors had been living in a colder environment with less sun. I read an article explaining I should blame my genes. But then why do I yearn for the sun so much and why do I like these colours so much that just looking at these fruit makes me a bit happier?

My May. Day 6, part 1
15.47, end of International street in Naha
Shisa, shisa everywhere! I knew they would be, and still they take me by surprise every time I see them.
Well, I googled and it seems the population of Naha city is just over 300 thousand people. Only a half of my hometown... But I wish our bus terminal and city hall were as pretty as here. Makes me wonder which one is a rural village - Naha or my hometown, which was for some ridiculous consideration designated as the new capital of the Russian Far East...

My May. Day 4, part 1
17.25, Oceanic culture museum
I can't say what makes it so special and why other museums I saw did not impress me as much, even though I have no interest in the culture of tribes living on Pacific islands. It may be the lighting. It may be the wide hall not separated into small rooms. It may be the colouring of the walls. It may be the way of displaying items mainly without glass. It must be all of these things together.

My May. Day 3, part 3
19.10, near Churaumi aquarium
Sunsets at sea have always been a special photography genre. People are probably tired of photos with setting sun, orange sky and the sea. It's not the same as seeing it with your own eyes. But we all make attempts to leave our impressions on paper or as digital images. We want these sunsets at sea to stay with us forever.

My May. Day 3, part 1
13.19, Emerald beach
When I heard that weather on Okinawa is everchanging I didn't know it would change every 5 minutes. Still I must have done something nice recently. The sun has come out when we reached the beach.

My May. Day 2, part 2
17.25, Naha Airport
The airport is very small... It seems like our Boeing 737-300 with 500 seats is larger than the airport. But its nice to see so many orchids and 2 aquariums greeting us.

My May. Day 1, part 2
16.37, Kansai Airport
Eevry airport strives to greet its visitors with something unique. As for Kansai, it has always looked industrial to me, unlike Narita and of course Haneda, with their soft design.
However, Kansai went out of its length and reminded me it's the wisteria season. I'm almost sad I can only see the decorations and not the real flower itself...
