my humble opinion on... RuroKen live action (unexpected, eh?)

well, even though I move forward, there are things I can never forget. 'Rurouni Kenshin' is one of them. and somehow I do not even feel wrong about it
though the release date is August 25, there are a lot of 'behind the stage' vids and trailers and tv programmes on YT for me to judge about the movie yet to come
I was skeptical about the movie from the very beginning. while waiting for the 'shin Kyoto hen' anime where all the seiyuus and the director are the same (and other staff, if I am not mistaken, such as composer... am I wrong?), I had no intention to watch the movie ever. I was completely sure that no living people can portray those characters so brilliantly described in the manga and in the anime (INCLUDING the third part of the anime which was not based on the original manga, but which was pretty good for me, too)
now that I looked closely I can find a lot of good points of the live action, which is surprising for me
the young girl playing Kaoru is adorable. she might be inexperienced in acting, but her age is the same as that of her character, which makes her very realistic and natural.  perhaps, she looks a bit more fragile than Kaoru in manga (especially in the last chapters where she was just almost a fat elderly woman >___<) but I can see she is quite a nice girl
cameraman work is superb. just compare the official trailer with 'behind the stage'. I can feel already how the angle multiplied by computer graphics emphasize the necessary aspects of what we see
the director seems to understand what he is doing. I though it might turn into a plain samurai movie or a soap opera, but it obviously did not. the creators did preserve the original characteristics which is certainly for the better
and the swords, ohhhh, though realizing that a sword is a weapon created to kill, I cannot help admiring how great the wielding of Kenshin is shown, and I hope other characters will show their true abilities, too
...and a fly in the ointment. the main actor. he is just...... wrong. just so completely unsuitable...... to the extent I cannot even put it into words
he is just overly cute when he is supposed to be simply cute. this modern face which is as if of a male model from a magazine cover could not belong to Kenshin
he is trying too much to seem funny when Kenshin WAS funny. his ORO has nothing in common with that of Suzukaze-sama. no, I am not agains male actors playing Kenshin and pronouncing the same lines as Suzukaze-sama did. but at least they should have the same charisma. have it or die
he is too sad when he is supposed to be sad. when I look at his sad face I cannot help thinking that it takes him a lot of efforts to keep his face sad
he is too cruel when he is supposed to be bellicose. Kenshin knew what he was doing, even in moments when he heard nothing around himself being concentrated on the battle - he was still concentrated - and... conscious? or something like that. and this guy looks as if he is out of his mind, including both scenes where he is in a battle, and where he is NOT in a battle
and he is simply TOO YOUNG. I could understand older actors and seiyuus taking roles of younger characters because they simply look/sound yonger than their real age is. but taking a 23-year old guy for a 28-year old... while he looks like a 18-year old one! >_____<
'tis just so completely wrong...
I hope that I am wrong about him being wrong. oh please, can there be at least one good live action among the thousands which should never have been released?
